that would depend on our good his insurance is..... youd be surprised.

good luck to the thief trying to sell anything off it...

Muppet_Guy
08-11-2007, 11:03 AM
Yeah, I seriosuly doubt the thief will be able to sell it for anywhere near the 600K, probably not even $10K. Anyone that is into these cars, would know about it being stolen, almost impossible to sell to an enthusiast. I'm afraid this car will most likely will be sold for parts, which is a shame, and farken useless too! This is not a sort of a car you'd steal. Unless they got a buyer arranged for it already, who the fark knows.

Fucken hell, youd be farkin spewing!

Even though the car cant easily be sold as one piece, the bit on it alone are worth a bloody fortune- I know Ive been trying to source bits for the last year

Quick run down
Steering wheel $2+
Door Trims original $2+
Dash, orig $3500+
Shaker Orig $3500+
Wheels $2500+
Seats $2K+
Seatbelt, carpet and rest of interior easily $1000+
Petrol cap $800+
gear box & diff $3K+

So that $20k easy just there

Hope he gets his car back, or at least the workshop had some good insurance!

Have a look to the US where muscle cars are exchanging hands for $2million plus :/

It good if you own one, but if you are a enthusiast who is trying to get one- your fucked

I particularly dont like how investors are buying them up, pushing up prices and denying enthusiasts a chance

its pretty common throughout the australian market atm, but yeh we do get them coming through auctions at Shannons, customers hear how much they go for, through the grapevine... BANG... everyone wants 500thou...

Do these threads have to go through this BS every time? It might not be worth it to you, but to others it is. That's why they get these prices.

If you can't appreciate it, how about you just don't click on the thread, and go spin your crap somewhere else? It's notthat hard.

They were also sold in South Africa (the GTs were, don't think the HOs were), so if you can get it there, I think there would be a market.

Look at how well all the American muscle cars are selling. It's not just the country of origin that wants them.

If you have ever been for a drive in one of these you will know the attention they command. Unbelievable. People come from every where for a look, and heaps of people come up to you and talk about one they had when they were young.

These cars are legendary, increasing in price since their release. You couldnt get one cheaper than what ford sold them for. Even second hand in 1972 they were more than new.

Its understandable that people may be into other cars, and the prices now are a bit wack, but you have to admire the cars for what they were and what they done

The most recognizable car in Australia EVER ... and you are questioning its value?

your right someone does need there head checked ...

Muppet_Guy
08-11-2007, 12:48 PM
Well, even though I wouldn't myself pay that much for one (if I even had that much money to spend on a car), if that's what other people are willing to pay for it, then that's what it is worth. Simple. There is a market for those cars, and that's what they are sold for, hence that's what they are worth in the free market at the moment.
Similarly I wouldn't pay even $50K for a house on Germain Way in Lockridge, yet others still pay $300K or whatever for it...

One man's junk, is other man's treasure.

P.S. I'm not saying the GTHO is junk, just trying to get a point across :)

Slip_
08-11-2007, 12:52 PM
youve got me wrong.

of course they're increasing in value. as is the rest of the aussie market.

i would say the same thing about the Brock familia.

im not ignorant to thier value and past.

we get these things coming down to the shannons branch quite regularly... im not alone, alot of the other shannons guys on AL share the same view.

there are examples... worth every penny of their $450,000 value... and there are absolute shttrs... that people ask for full value for... because they are a GT.

my point, is... these days, the understanding amongst the population of GTHO enthusiasts... is that thier shttr falcon with rust in the door trim... is worth 600k... just because is has the badge.

SimonR32

HK GTS 327 in warwick yellow, mmmmm yes please.

The prices of these things are plateau'ing out now finally.

If someone wants to pay the premium, then its worth the asking price.

Seems like the price of Toranas are beginning to skyrocket too.

Have seen Walkies change hands for in excess of $150K, and even GT replicas going for $100K. While the economy is booming and mining is going silly, car enthusiasts will continue to fork out big bucks for some motoring history.

hey matt - outta interest, what kinda premiums are on a 600k car?? (say a 50 year old with no a 100 percent nop claim bonus and no driving convictions)

ive always wondered if the cost of insurance, rego, storage etc and the fact that u rarely ever drive them trying to preserve kms, would offset the benefits of owning a collectors item - not so much a 600k car but 1 like a vngroup a which are only creeping up in value

i bet the owner of this stolen gtho wished they were worth fuck all, that way he would get to drive around in the 'classic' everyday and no-one would bother stealing it.

thats if he ownes it purely because he enjoys the look of it and driving it and its not "look what i got and can afford" situation

i hope he gets his car back in 1 piece

Fark that! I had a $10K soarer sitting in my garage broken and not used for 5 months, and I still had it insured fully comprehensive. Only an idiot would not insure a $600K car, no matter how often he uses it.

Happy or unaware? If there are two identical things for sale, and one costs more than the other, while you only know of one (the more expensive one) and you buy it, only to find out later that other places sell the same thing for much less... wouldn't you call that "getting ripped off"? What is your defintion of "getting ripped off" then?

A product is truly worth what someone is prepared to pay for it, whether that individual see's it as value for money is entirely up to them.

1JZNOSHIT
10-11-2007, 08:47 AM
and one would think if they were willing to pay the money, then they would see the value in it.
