Somebody shed some light on my situation. Mechanics dont even seem to be much use, (mainly due to the fact i dont wanna spend huge amounts of $$ just to diagnose a problem)

my car = ca18det, bb gt25, pod, full 3inch exhaust, bov. Recently just converted to manual.

Ever since its been converted ive had a problem with idle and accleration at low revs. As soon as i drove out of the workshop with manual car the revs were dropping very low at the lights (550rpm) almost bout to konk out but didnt. Took it back and he played with the idle a bit. And now the car's idle is so erratic its not funny. (between 2000-600rpm). When i drive the car, at low revs it feels like its hesistating to move, like its being choked but then as soon as it comes on boost it is fine and drives perfectly.

I took it to a mechanic and he said he was sure it was an electrical problem where for some unknown reason my computer was dumping loads of fuel on some occasions causing it to idle low, then at other times the computer was making it run too lean causing the high idle.

The car was at an auto-electrician but i didnt leave it there because he was going to take too long and i needed the car tonight. So im asking you guys what i should do? by the way we kept the Auto computer for the manual conversion but the guy said he can try to the manual ecu if i want to (in his opinion tho he said it shouldnt make a difference). what should i do? and Is it alright if i still drive the car around while its like this? will it cause big damage..i will be taking it easy on low boost until its fixed

thanks in advance
dave

maybe cold start enrichment solenoid???
mine was stuffed and my car would idle @ 2000rpm
auto ecu will be fine

if u still cant find what the prob is
try the manual ecu anyway so u can cross another possibility off the list

See if the idle solenoid on the gearbox has been wired up. Have heard it can pose a problem with idle.

Check the TPS connections.

Check the AACV on the exhaust side, of the inlet plenum - in the middle.

Ive done plenty of man conversions, with none of the idle solenoids wired up, auto computer still and no hassles with idle at all. *shrug*

but its a possibility

Funny one, more common then you think.

Check the power sterring valve. And clean your carby butterflies
