I just need some info on Dampier, I am moving up there for work! well for one reason $$$ the MOOLAH, i just need to know what it is like up there and if anyone has lived there before or anything!!

The bay is nice. dampier mermaid has skimpies on thursday and fridays during lunch and dinner. there is not much to do in karratha burrup or dampier other then 4wding and fishing. both of those hobbies are choice up there.

It takes approximately half an hour at the speed limit to get from karratha to dampier and vice versa depending on the traffic. If your keen for night activities the tambrey and geckos are your choice of destination. Both again 30 miinutes from where you are staying.

There is plenty of red dirt, road kill and rocks to keep you entertained for approximately 3 days. The people there are special and cannot stop complaining even though they earn a gross amount of cash.

Dampier is bloody hot in the summer. YOu also have a killer burger joint and a asian slave deli that has golden fried chicken. The sharks will eat you if you go swimming.

Halfway between dampier and karratha is the burrup peninsula. plenty of rocks with what is interpreted as art all over them. theres a gas plant, another 4wd track which hire cars go to get tested and rumour has it a liquid ammonia plant which is murdering people under the cover of night.

There are penty of nice cars up there, they just don't come out too much or are being worked on. I got 2 mates up in Karratha that have both had their cars off the road more than on over the last 2 years.

Aw yeah! I will be working for a shipping company up there called Inchcape Shipping as an Agent! which i do down here but like everything money is better up there so yeah!

if your going north make money, just check out your accommodaton details first. Unless your work is paying the rent. your not going save or be making any extra money at all as it'll be going towards paying your rent.

I second the burger place near the mermaid in Dampier for lunch - killer burgers.

Tambrey is good; definately a good pub meal there.

4wd hire car test track is good but waaaay too many roo's around there!

Thanks for the feedback everyone! i am sure i will hate the summer aswell! it is not forever just to get a start really because it is booming and i have no kids thank god so i can do it!
