A 19-YEAR-old Perth man has been caught driving 111km/h over the speed limit just days after completing his probationary licence period.

Police say they recorded the young driver heading towards them in a Nissan Skyline at 189km/h on the Roe Highway at Midland around 8.30pm yesterday.

As police prepared to stop him, he accelerated to 201km/h in the 90km/h zone.

The driver had finished his probationary licence period four days earlier, police said.

A 19-year-old Swanview man has been charged with reckless driving under Western Australia's hoon legislation, and his car impounded for 48 hours.

He is due to appear in the Midland Magistrates Court at a later date.

What a tool. I stand by my statement that some people do not deserve to own cars.

hope he cops a big fine and a loong loss of licence

Why though? We're all guilty of it guys, on many occasions :D

Yes he was stupid for getting caught, but damn I can bet 99% of us here have done the same before. 8:30pm would roughly be a time that I'd do it on Roe Hwy too :D

Not having a go at anyone, but I just sense a bit of hypocrisy here that's all...

"young hoon says he would of kept on going if he had installed his speed cut defender, he is very upset with himself"

oh well shit happens, simular thing happened to my bro, lose your car for 48hrs, go to court, get done for the hoon charge, 700-1200 fine depending on the judge and loss of licience for 6 months. At least he was off his P's and doesnt have to repeat anthing, he'd be cheering on that part.

10% tolerance in the speed cut ... add some different sized rims and tyres and it could push 201kmh easily enough.

i reckon if u could dodge it so car definatly would cut at 180 and then consistanly proove it on a track you get out of it becuase 20km out on radar means it must be fkd.

Agreed. Wouldn't be doing it at that time of night. Wouldn't be doing it at that section. The roads up that end aren't bad, but they aren't great either.

x2

People on here cant go on flaming some kid that was just doing what we all (wheather you want to admit it or not) have done at some point. If it was in a suburb or built up area, very different story. Not sticking up for him in any way, he did the wrong thing and got caught, he will suffer the conciquences.

Just glad it wasnt me :)

And at 8.30PM Roe Hwy isnt very busy at all.

On Roe late at night you're not going to endanger anyone except yourself.
Problem is, this guy had 3 passengers. Hence, idiot.
