Technics 1210's / 1200's Full Stop.
Nothing else compares & nothing will...
Industry standard for a good reason.

baha soo rank, i had them for like 2 months, biggest POS, mate go straight to the technics 1200's, i picked up mine for 600 each off ebay. CD Decks are a good starting point but if you already know the basics or what your doing go the turntables.

For a beginner DJ I wouldnt recommend buying turntables (unless of course you are TJ and have unlimited cash!!) as collecting vinyl is very pricey, let alone stylus, slipmats etc..
Start off with some good 2nd hand CDJ's, you can still scratch on them if you desire, music is much cheaper to buy and they will allow you to enjoy the fundamentals of DJing enough to decide whether it is something you would like to pursue then the progression to vinyl will be a natural move.
I have seen allot of people spend up big on new setups only to give up DJing a few months later...!
I used to own a pair of pioneer 3500's.
Im heavily into cutting and scratching/hip hop so the torque on those didnt cut it at all. I guess if you're straight up mixing they're perfect for beginners. I'm now on 1210 MK5's and they're god. Although im regretting selling my 3500's as I need a spare tt for sampling.
Im a vinyl junkie so I'd chose tt's over cdjs. It comes down to what you play and the application. If you're on a budget I would grab some 2nd hand tech's and wack on some shure m44-7's.
Peace
