Hellow,
The celica gt4, are they a common car that is easy enough to get parts for?
I would be chasing a driveline, box, diff, front and rear shafts, propshaft.
Some people in the UK have finished doing the Familia engine and GT4 box combo and i can get the adaptor plate from them. But i need the gear over here to make it happen. These box's are apparently good for 400bhp with lots of abuse. So that means nice launches and i would be able to get decent times out of the car.
Any info on the gt4's?
Cheers

which GT4?
ST165
ST185
ST205
165 and 185 box's are puss.... mostly with second gear synchro on its way out...
st205's are built strong and are a quality box. however will probably cost well upwards of 3-4K.
185 parts are easy come, however cant see the viability of using them. 165 and 205's bits are hard to get your hands on.
best i can do with that info sorry mate.

Any info is good info!
The guy that did the conversion said that the 205 is obviously better, but the 185 can still handle abuse.
Basically, im trying to think weather i rebuild my GTX box, and most probablary blow it up trying to get my 300 at all 4 mark. Or do i slap a FWD in while i get the bits for this conversion and just do 350 at the fronts.
Cheers mate, does anyone know of any celica based forums i could read up on?

toymods.com
ozcelica.com
toymods is your best bet, you can rely on the info there, cvnts seem to have a clue.
heaps of US and NZ sites that you can google, but the above two are the only ones ive been active on.
however Ozcelica, theres good info there... but you have to dig around....hard. 90% of the cvnts are under 25yrs and seem to think that thier information/perspective makes sense, 9/10 members will amaze you with how fking little they know... be warned, going on ozcelica can potentially decrease your IQ.
not many 185's running overly fast times. they struggle to see 11's...even low 12's. due to the box.
you wont get your 300 to the ground with a 185 box thats for sure. not for long anyways.
Andrew/Titmeat (185) should be able to shed some light, he's putting out some decent power and he doesn't exactly drive all that soft.
Or Danillo/GT4. dan knows his shit.

i'd let it go for 250, considering just toyota want near on 1k
These boxs are very tough, a mate of mine use to have a 185 and i've never seen a box take the abuse that he threw at it and it never gave him any dramas (he did break his rear diff mounts though lol too much limiter launching...)
My box was run in the half cut and it selected all the gears fine and seemed tip top. I was originally was going to use it in my conversion so i made sure that everything was working

hey mate,
Yeah you can come next week, no rush its a pretty big box so you might need a ute or trailer. My number is 0417948746 and my names steve so just give me a msg or call whenever you want.
As for other stuff, i'll have a look in the shed and see what i have but i think most of the stuff either sold or i just threw out. I wont have the full tailshaft but i do have the small output shaft that comes out of the back of the box, and i also have the 2 pot calipers aswell but i'll have a proper look tomorrow
I tried to pm you but your inbox is full :)
cheers
