TJ

is there any spacers available that make a 4 stud car 5 stud?

firstly i doubt it, and secondly i wouldnt reccommend attaching your wheels to your car via a thin spacer. If you have to do the conversion do it properly. That sounds quite dangerous.

there are billet alloy ones that change ford to holden stud pattern,im pretty sur they would do 4 - 5 stud aswell.. they go for around 110-130 each unit.. bentley west state tyres sell the holden to ford ones.. spose have to ask n see...

if any spacer or rims change the track of your tyres its illegal....but i doubt mr plod will know they r on.. and im sure he or she will find sumthing to yellow sticker your car... ie cracked windscreen wipers..or get one like me that just says adr complied..

mate i went to the pits and the dickhead didnt even notice the 20mm spacers...

onemxracer

yeah the pits guys wont really take much notice of that stuff, only if ya tyres r hanging out ya guards... but if they wanted to be tough on ya they could get you on it..i think they r sick of petty yellows

tyres wont hang out, r31 offset is ~20 and r32 is closer to 40, this will account for the space of the spacers, the thing im worried about tj is that 4 and 5 stud may clash where they bolt on and where the new studs are, there may be enough room to have 5 inbetween 4 or you may have to get 1 stud extended and use is as common (assuming they are both 114.3.

out of curisity (and because my car is the same spec) what are your current wheels specs, do they need spacers? 16x?" ?

you can get 4-> 5 stud bolt on spacers.
in my opinion bolt on spacers arent dodgy compared to normal spacers which can slide around

There was a video on the net of a 240SX that had 4 to 5 stud spacers.. and you see the wheel roll past him at 200kph .. not a good idea.

What's with all the dodgy tightasses on here?

If you're gonna do this sort of thing, do it properly or end up in tears when the dodgy method goes bad.

tj is open to suggestions. Everyone else pushing the spacers over a hub conversion is dodgy.

I agree with Mayhem. You pingpingpingpings scare me.

using bolt on hub spacers is not dodgy.

bolt on spacers are not dodgy as long as there is adequete length of thread. its just like bolting a wheel to a car

You're still a bunch of dodgy fuckers.

Learn to do things properly instead of taking the cheap way out at every turn.

incorrect.

4 stud to 5 stud bolt on spacer conversions are available, have seen them in the flesh before. As with most things, japan.

None of us do Tom. However, if I didn't have to fix up all the dodgy shit the previous owner did to the car when trying to do everything on the cheap, I'd probably be a lot closer to it.

Some cars come from the factory with spacers ala old porsches to get the massive offsets so not dodgy. Pits guys dont mind em, only illegal thing is the change in track which when increased improves handling anyway, theyre sometimes used for that sole purpose.
thats the bolt on variety btw

McLOVIN

There's a difference between using spacers to correct offset or increase track slighty, and using them to completely change a stud pattern. To me, it's dodgy. In the end, it's up to the individual forking out the money. Couldn't care less anymore.

DCIEVE

Fair enough, but its hard to justify calling something dodgy simply because theres an extra hole drilled in the spacer for different stud pattern wheels over ones used for track increases. Most simply use the extra offset to fill guards as opposed to race cars where theyre used to improve handling, does the different purpose make the former dodgy and the latter 'ok'?. Think some Ferrari's run them stock too.

McLOVIN

We're talking about using the spacer to change the stud pattern. That to me is dodgy. Using them for their intended purpose - to increase track - is fine, regardless of why you're widening the track.

Anyway, I'm no longer interested.
