Microtech is a great computer cost wise, whilst not as user friendly as othe computers ont he market, it suits a fair scope of modification. Its disadvantage is that its not Plug and play.

Computers such as Haltech, Apexi power FC are great in that you can plug n play, with a multitude of tuners about the place willing to tune them for you. Disadvantage is that if you start removing stock items, computer isnt as adaptable

speak to a workshop, tell them what you want out of the ca, and theyll recomend an ecu for you.

Clint if your ecu hasnt been butchered with one of those jap glue in daughter boards why dont you look at getting one of the new daughter boards and software for real time tuning. It would be the cheapest option and you still get to keep your factory idle control and cold start.

Just thought I'd contribute..

I run a standalone LT-10S with the hand controller. It absolutely HATES cold starts, and will stall within the first 10-15 seconds of being started up.

Barry's Dyno and Tune, or Rotormotion will tune this ECU. You'll find that the microtech is suited for alot of rotary engines, so alot of places that play with rotaries will be able to tune the microtechs.

I run the X4 with it too, which brings in the usage of Coilpacks (for those motors that run a dizzy).

There are also alot of datalogging features, via either the hand controller, or laptop connected via a provided serial port.

RRP seems to be around $1150.

I am running a Microtech LT12 plug and play on my R33 series 2. I have no problem with the cold starts or stalling? I would recommend Ovaboost in malaga for the install and tune. The other bonus is you can throw your airflow meter in the bin as it runs off of a map sensor so less intake airflow restrictions!
P.S. I have had bad experiences with rotomotion would not recommend them at all!

i have had nothing but good experiences with rotomotion been going there for around 6 years had 2 cars built there with no problems wouldnt think of spending thousands of dollars any where else

Fair enough! Maybe they are good with rotarys but not so good with skylines?
they tuned my car way too lean!
maybe I was unlucky? But I won't be going back!

ive had a microtech LTX8 in my car for a while now, always starts first time... has slight problems with stalling after driving for a while... unsure if thats something in the tune making it do that..

for the price i paid, its perfect for me. for a skyline i wouldnt bother putting a microtech in, stick with a PFC or something plug and play.

Friends have had bad experiences there too.

I dont run an AFM or o2 sensor, map goodness !

I was going to go back to Barrys dyno and tune, but his equipment is getting a little old.. I'll give Ovaboost a shot
