Since it seems that people can do something that not involving ripping each other a new asshole... how does the idea sound that we should get a group together for a band? A group effort we are gonna need to fill many aspects

==> Place to jam
==> groupies that are more attractive then say..... tj with tassles. (lets set the bar people!)
==> instruments
==> Current skill level / aspiring skill level.
==> Place to jam!

This should prove to be quite worthwhile, good social thing, can do some fundraising gigs for hosting tjs gearbox etc etc...

Throw all your ideas up here!

biggest hurdle will be amplification... i've only got a baby amp that would be drowned out by the sound of my cat farting, to get some decent sound, cash is required... or a rich mate with a bombed amp :P

also might pay to chuck down some ideas for what sorta stuff you're into playing.

i've been playing guitar for about 15 years now so i'm kinda keen but i sold off my electric guitar aaaaages ago. only got an accoustic and looking at getting a 12 string soon so yeah. might not be quite so helpful depending on what you guys have in mind to play.

wouldnt consider it too serious, ie just some popular covers that sort of thing. Considering alot of antilags demographic like pop (c)rap or dance/trance/house/electronica im not sure how successful this will be.

All ideas welcome

Ok you got me inspired Lukian, I'm going past the music shop today and I'm going to buy some new strings.

I'll hit up powertabs and I reckon with a few weeks practice I'll be proficient again!

I sold my gigging kit last year due to not playing for a year. Played since i was 15, studied for 3 years including time @ the conservatorium of music (Academy of Performing Arts - majoring in jazz). Played in original bands all my time mainly rock/funk/metal aspect. If this is a goer i can source a cheap kit, IF someone has a place to jam and i can store it there.

Ok as time progresses it loooks like we got some bites!

Here are the positions... Amateur DIY musicians right up to the pro's are all welcome

Guitar Rhythm
Guitar Lead
Hell chuck an acoustic in there
Drums / Rhythm
Keyboard/Piano/Synth
Bass
Recorder for Michael Young / yngwie / insert guitar legend here Solo
Boneplayer
groupies
TJ aka he runs this band (much love tj)

Given that we have quite a few people for certain positions, it looks like might have 3 geetarists.

Oh yes and to set the record on what style you want to play and the great musician debate. Covers vs Originals.... this ones a doozy as the most dedicated of people are only willing to do one and not the other.

Instrument donations??!?! I have a 80watt prodrive amp with a Jackson soloist (japanese not korean!) for somebody who can make it sing and give it a lil love. Also a VERY basic Pearl Forum Kit which gets us some beats.

My solo'ing is very out of touch...have not done it for 6 years! Therefore, lead is out of the question.

I'll take guitar rhythm...THAT I can do right here, right now.

Sully
17-05-2007, 01:05 PM
if i can grab the jackson i'll go lead but same, i'm a little rusty improv solo wise but it's nothing that i can't figure out with a little more practice. if somone else jumps that spot i'll grab the acoonstic spot

on the subject of the groupies, if they're wider than the body of a guitar then its a no go. double necks and gibson explorers are not to be used for evaluative purposes.
