Hey to all,

There soon will be legal drift sessions coming to a perth track soon. The people involved are wondering how many people would be interested, cause the need to know if its a worth while event to put on. im sure that alot of you would be keen, but i thought i would ask, just to get some numbers happening. Everything at these events will be legal, and all cars with be srcutineered. Not all cars will be let to drift competivley due to compulsary factors eg- roll cages  ,seat belts, fire extinguishers and so forth, but there will be events that cater for beginners, and the intermedaite.

sorry about the grammer :)

hmmm good luck getting a decent field of competitors there when a requirement is having a roll cage..

unless its a d1 comp you won't get that big a field there..

too many rumours and stories going around about friggin drift tracks at the moment, its pissing me off.

The only places that could do it in Perth that i know of are, wanners and ahg.

My uncle is one of the directors at MC/AHG and that aint going ahead for a while, or at least until the track settles. One of the things scaring them away is damage to the track. You come sideways around the corner with your rears hacking up the edge of the track/grass ripping it to bits. Repairing bitumen properly and all the time can get costly.

It isnt really viable at the moment as there isnt that big of a following, you get the regular crew probably going to each event and people get bored quickly seeing the same old crap every month or so.

I could be wrong, it could take off and be the next big thing here, who knows. Ill stay on this side of the fence until i see something actually happen.

See the Collie drift thread for drift nonsense that's totally going ahead :P

yeh, safety requirements are a bit hefty, and im sure it would have to be a cams approved roll cage. Just makes things harder

yeh guys,
i didnt want to create any disturbance, i just wanted to know. It will be run by authorised people, and probably more for the hard core competitors then just anyone. yes cams will be involved. and i know the idea has been around for ages, but i didnt know that there was a bunch of rumours going around lately, so sorry to add to that. i was just asking for the sake of the few who might enter and to see how many spectators there might be.. just getting an idea of a turnout.
Once again sorry for asking such a thing, next time i just might bite my tounge.

Better someone suggesting something then no one saying nothing. At least we know there is interest within the modified car community. We can work from there with that.

Cages ? . Most dont even have a half cage , or even good 4 point harness' for that matter , and convincing someone to buy a helmet that costs more than 200dollars is actually a handful on it own . In a small city like Perth , that wouldnt happen . The biggest problem i see here is that we dont have a proper drift track to begin with , and secondly insurance . When asking a agent you tell them "the objective is to slide a car sideways on purpose , while spectators will stand and watch behind a Coates hire plastic road barrier that we will probably leave empty cause they take a lot of water and time to prepare" ..... LOL >>>>> click . Hello ?...... hello ??? ..... anyone there ?

The only way to get hardcore racers so to speak .... is to get television and magazine media , big sponsors , big crowds , and a dedicated track (s) , that way people would build up a car to race a championship . So you sound as tho your asking the question to gauge interest Talia , in that case you should let people know more on it, who is the interested promoter ? . What venues ?

TJ

and why isnt the promoter getting out there onto all the forums and putting down thier proposals for all to see?

..... over a week and no reply . This is why i find such posts amusing .

Ok , if i fill my pool with 100 dollar bills .... who is keen to go for a swim ? . I need a show of hands , and no jokers !! . This is a very serious event .

BTW : Any people caught pissing in the pool , or AKA 'pissing money away' , will be beaten by 2 gorillas in Armani suits, and thrown out . Serious replies only please .........

Sorry mate , the pool will be drained afterwards , and a drift track will be made .

Saf, is said track actually going to be made? Or is it all a rumour? Perhaps you could incorporate the pool steps into bleachers?

Hmmm ..... come to think of it .... the steps arent a bad idea . Point noted and will be taken into consideration :)

Im still punting away in the background trying to organise my shit........

Its harder than most people think to get a comp/practice day going.

Cheers
Jack

Ps. i kinda just want to drift though not organise but if i get something going i can hand over the established reigns..

You dont have to be sorry , but if your going to start a thread with a line like that , back it up , make the person who intends to stand up , or make a move on it . Nothing personal , but i could also stand here and say "what if ..... " and yank peoples chains , but i dont . Im not saying that your only yanking a chain , nor having a go at you .... im jsut saying if you started it , so let us know on the details ....
