i own a r33 with the usual mods..fmic,bov,pod,turbo back zorst,12psi

my problem is that when on high boost and putting my foot down it spools up fine at first then it starts backfiring like crazy...before hitting redline! its really wierd im starting to think it mite be the fuel pump but then again it isnt tuned yet..opinions anyone?

cheers.

check ur sparkplug gap, the high boost may b "blowing out" the spark. Should b set to about 0.7-0.8mm

NO its boost cut

lower the boost it will be fine.. mine did it on 12 psi soo i put it back to 10 and works fine

plug gap to 0.8mm. stock R33 ECu is very g&y, upgrade it. if not, atleast add a SAFC.

Coil packs?

could be coilpacks, plug gap, malfunctioning ECU (some ECU's have their capacitors leak after a while), boost cut, etc. etc.

really depends on the feeling you get they're all similar, but if you know what to look for, you can tell.

dodgy coilpacks and too big a plug gap will cause very similar though.

plug gap for the win.

Moved to correct section - learn to use the tech section please.

btw, 33, stutter spec misfire on boost = coilpacks 90% of the time.

nah see tj when i had my coilpacks go even on 7psi it would miss fire.. his is only misfiring on high boost.. i still think its boost cut!! the stock ecu's on skylines are very restrictive with there boost levels

actually reading that again it still revs to redline? or just sits about 5 grand and bangs? if its still going to redline yeah could very well be the coil packs and spark plugs

plugs.

stock plug gap is huge on R33s. they miss from standard on ultra cold nights.

all 3 R33s i have had have all missed on boost until i fit some decent plugs gapped to atleast 0.8mm.

mine did that at high boost, but i was thinkin of the fuel pump 2 be fuckd. then my dad said its ur plugs so i bought some NGK plus and it when good, so maybe the plugs or coilpacks

My guess would be plug gaps! I am running .65mm otherwise get the same problem at high boost!
