Is it easy to swap factory head units between makes of cars? I've got a Mazda 626 and the CD Player broke, I figured another factory unit might be a cheap and easy way of getting some tunes back...

Just keep in mind the security codes ... because if you lock a factory h/u you need to call the dealer and supply the VIN of the vehicle to get the code to unlock it.

if you put in a stereo from another car... VIN will be different, not sure if this means you won't be able to unlock your stereo and use it.

you can get cheap 2nd hand stereo's from the quokka or forums ... heaps cheap.

Good point. Just want something to play CD's, nothing special, so its probably a good idea just to keep an eye on forum's I guess.

If you want cheap, get a $100 CD player special from SuperCheap or something...

I agree with the above, just go for cheap, second hand aftermarket.
