yeah i know its a performance forum, but hopefully someone here has a bit of knowledge about stereos.

I've had my stereo hooked up in the laser ever since i bought it, and every once in a while the sub woofer will just take on a constant hum...
its not the sort of "whistle" noise you hear when you put the throttle down with a badly earthed amp or anything like that... it just makes this very loud humming noise...

if i unplug the RCA's from the amp i still get the constant hum...

any one got any ideas ?

pulled the boot apart today and checked the wiring, sorted out all the messy spaghetti it had there and tidied it up. also rewired the amp to run a full 1000w thru the subwoofer @ 1ohm... cant have it up loud because its just too bloody loud haha.. gotta get it tuned methinks

any suggestions to people who can tune stereo gear ?

that means its not a interference issue with the rca cables then. Some people run the rca cables and power cables down the same side of the car and it can create an interference and the car makes the humming noise, especially when you rev the motor. Have you mucked around with the gain on the amp? you definately getting a decent earth? it might be worth running two sets of earth cables to two different locations
