My laser has been booked in for tuning next week... just wondering what peoples thoughts are to these questions
1) What size rims should i run, my 17's or put my standard 14's on ?
im going to do the usual stuff beforehand, check oil levels and replace the "water" i have in the car atm to a nice bottle of 100+ coolant.
what other things should i look at doing before the car goes to the workshop in order to provide a better tune ?

decent plugs !
perhaps ask the w/shop who is tuning what plugs you should have for the tune

plus im sure other people would like to know aswell.

spark plugs??
for safety id recomend hooking up an oil pressure and/or fuel pressure gauge
id just recomend all ya ic pipes are secure and general stuff like that - u dont want a dyno operator trying to diagnose a vac leak while the tabs running
dont think tyres would make any diff

cooler pipes are all collared up and havent blown off as yet...
gauges would be a luxury, unfortunatley i dont own any other than boost atm.
ahh k, the rims are heavy tho... so i thought i should put my steelies back on for tuning purposes.

I would have thought keeping the rims on would be better as this is how you will be running the car on the street.

ill have a look tomoz & see what i can do a guage for
spare plugs never go astray - have you got the right heat range & a resister type plug for the microleb ?
leave the rims on , dont worry about stockies

yeah u right speco guages - although they cheap they look pretty decent. even if u use it 1 off its worth it..
enlightened me to my oil surge problems under heavy acelleration in 1st and 2nd

owain, i have a set of those smoked glass guages, electronic, from memory oil press, oil temp, and boost that Malz/Repco do...be willing to let them go pretty cheap, like $150 for all 3 if ya want.
owain run your 17's they are your street tyres
make sure you run the fuel your going to use every day
2 sets of plugs
fuel pressure gauge for sure, oil pressure gauge is a waste of time. if it has been running this long with no pressure, its already game over
fuel is another matter.
make sure all piping is tight.
Owain change the oil and filter...
Dyno's are really hard on cars. Plus new motor...

Burnt oil on your foot when your non electrical oil gauge line burst .... priceless ;)

i wouldnt buy a mechanical nor a 40 bux oil pressure gauge for a permanant fixture either. i never specifically said to mount it in car
using your logic - fuel out from the back of a fuel gauge inside the vehicle at 60 psi would be priceless 2 (while your drifting and having a cig at the same time)

If you were to have a 'fluid' gauge mounted, it would have to be outside the vehicle in front of the windshield, it's illegal to have those inside the vehicle for that particular reason :)

okay after a small snag with my microtech, which has since been sent for repairs im still without a tune :)
done the usual stuff, replaced oils and fluids, checked belt tensions and fuel pressure, they all seem to be checking out okay.
should i fit a cheap bleed valve onto the car so it will get tuned for higher boost, or should i wait until i can afford an EBC ?
the turbos wastegate opens up at 13psi according to MTQ, i was hoping to run 19/20psi... how safe are bleed valves ? do they spike easily ?

bleed valves can depend on a lot of things
the motor and turbo combo
how much boost it needs to bleed off
temperature changes
etc etc
if your tuning on the edge, or want other features (like preset modes, boost warnings/cuts etc) you'll want an EBC.
