was at pits today and guys said the structure support on the bonnet cannot be cut to be legal but said u can have holes around the support and vent/scoop must face forward.incase of oil fuel or coolant burst and then it will go over windscreen. that is what 3guys at rta said to me

Thats what I did. If i get a sticker, swap bonnets and get it off.

If the bonnet vents are open i dont think you will be able to pass pits!
On the wrx's the standard vents have plates underneath them if you take them plates off and leave it open you will not pass pits unless they are blocked/covered because something about oil fuel or something shooting out of your bonnet!

If you have Vent's facing the windscreen you have to blockem off but u can still have the vents for looks. as for carbon fibre and fibreglass bonnets you need to add these clips if i remember so it wont fly back to the windscreen if you have a crash. Hard to explain but go to the pits and they'll show you.

WRX also has a forward facing open vent though so not all vents are illegal

evo's and ralliart colts have a bonnet vent?
obviously not illegal.

Actually thats a common and incorrect assumption that coz a production vehicle has them they are ok... there is a difference between the national ADRs used to approve a vehicle for import, and each State's own rules.
I asked exactly that about some new evos and wrxs etc that have "flat vents" (not forward or rear facing - just mesh openings) - and both the pits and the administrative technical branch said flat is classified same as rearward facing, and that while the car might have been approved under ADRs for sale, "technically" as soon as you drive it off the caryard it is illegal in WA and can be stickered for the openings to be covered! Guy at the pits said only on a bad day would a pits guy ever give a **** about them from factory - but technically they could.
Only vents ok are forward facing... and they have to not be that high or positioned forward enough that they decrease your line of sight to the ground in front. Any forward facing vent opening has to be no higher than 6cm.

that's the funny thing
my mate had a torana with the rearward facing scoop (standard on slr5000 a9x etc) and got told he had to cover it up, despite the factory car having no covering
score on the rim width laws though
that's awesome!

'kn oath - means i can legally run a 295/305 on the front and a 325 on the rear!!! :eek3:

Most important thing to remember tho is wheel track rule hasnt changed... so still cant reduce track at all, or increase it by more than 25mm total.
That means your rim offset has to be no more than 12.5mm different to the stock rim (ie. for my S15, which had stock offset of +45, I can legally only get rims with an offset between +45 and +33)
Thank the lord tho the wheels I just got are all sweet... 19x10 +45 on rear with 265/30/ZR19 are right on the money :boink:
