Need some advice,

Just went and paid my nanna a visit on the weekend to give her a hand around the house with odd jobs etc and she gave me a bag with some hell old coins.

Its from a friend who past away , she said she thinks some are worth some cash at first i thought nothing of it but after lookin on ebay at some of them, i may have some worth good money.

I will list some of the ones i think are worth a bit......

1 x 1886 farthing

1 x 1900 half penny

1 x 1901 half peny

2 x 1913 half pennys

1 x 1917 half penny

1 x 1916 half penny

and about 6 half pennys from 1920-1940

I got given heeps more aussie old coins like pennys atc but i think the list may have some good ones in there.

Anyone have any idea of what they could be worth?

try checking ebay for some values.

I saw on there people selling the old paper $50 note and bids had reached over $70?!

how the f*ck does that work.....

Yep this is the dude im thinkin of.

Im still lookin on ebay at the moment and i cant find any that are older than 1913. Im hoping that the 1886 , 1900, 1901 are worth good $$$$.

I would just hate to go to one of these dudes and they say " i will give ya $50
and they know its worth $500 and i would never know

i got given a 1894 gold farthing which was bought for me a week after my birth on my 21st...

checked its value on the internet last week, if i hang onto it long enough and pass it on or something im sure its gonna be worth a lot :)

because it has gold in it, with the change in gold values on teh stock market, my coins value increases :)

best to get them quoted ninja.

australia doesnt have many big $$$ old coins, except ones minted from valueble metals

the only big baller is the 1930 penny u posted, for some reason or another **** all of these where minted, like under 100 or there abouts

thus worth so much, im not so sure 600k thou, ive seen one sold for 40k before. the one on ebay is no doubt a fake, or super coincidental that the last digit is brazed off the date

my guess is the bag of coins u got isnt worth all that much espexially if they r in rough shape, keep them for what they are, a nice reminder of the past and of ur granny when she passes on

x2.

I have a penny from 1745 that my Grandmother gave me (been in the family for generations - obviously...), it's in excellent condition, and guess how much it is worth....

A measly $10.00.

Yeah i spose youz are right, it would have to be a special coin that is sort after like the 1930 penny or 1923 half penny.

Might have to dig through the lot and see if there is one in there somewhere :)

But yeah, im sure they are worth more centermentle

From what i know this coin is so valuable because it was king Edward? or something that apdacated(spelling) the thrown just as they were minting them up or something!

And also as ross said unless it is a very rare/old coin it has to be in top condition to be worth anything. If theres anything roman in there your onto a winner!

Stamps and coins are just as much investments as shares and property. They appreciate in value just as much in some cases.

I know a bloke who had $30,000 dollars worth od German war memrobila.

He just bought 60 iron crosses that the german soldiers wore around there necks from ww1. In about 10 yrs all his stock will be worth around $50,000 due to most of it becoming 100yrs old or older.

I myself am not into german war stuff because of what they did but you can see that if you buy a lot of stuff they will only go up in price you can make good money.

I bought a ww1 grenade 1914 complete with pin etc for $100 8yrs ago off this same bloke.

Sold it about 5 months ago to a collector for $250.

I should of kept it but i found out that its illegal and with all the terrorism stuff going on, its best to be in the hands of someone with licences
