hey guys,
i dont post much, but im after some advice..
Recently lost my license from accumulating too many demerit points, so now im on a suspension for 3 months. Thing is, i wasnt aware that my license had been invalid, till a cop pulled me over for speeding. He's gone and sent me a court order for driving on an invalid license. So anyway, due to my job, im required to drive at least 6 hrs a day.
Ive looked into applying for the E license, but i have to sit out the 21 manditory waitin period! which is ****, coz now i basicaly cant drive, which means i cant work. Seems to be theres at least 1.5 months be4 i can even lodge my application for an E license, due to paper work and other who knoes processes. Is it possible to lodge my application b4 my court hearing? I dont want to waste my $165 application fee. My Court hearing is only in early decemeber. Seems to be by the time I eventually get my E license, my suspension will be over!
any advice guys?

There was nothin I could do to speed up the application because you may not even be granted the E lic (depends what the judge thinks of you and your history). I wad to wait over a month for my day in court then roughly 3 weeks for the application to be approved. In a three month suspension I got just under a month on E's almost wasnt worth it... **** system just like almost everything else to do with the traffic dogs.

if you lose your licence you can get the 3 months loss of licence suspended provided within the next year you do not recieve a single point, if you dont you get the it all wiped and a fresh start, if you do the original 3 months is doubled to 6 and you must serve it out.

yeah im not goin to even try for the 1 year 1 point thing, im definatly going to get caught again...i think its not worth having 1 point for 1 whole year, i'd rather just wait out the 3 months and get a fresh license back.
King D yeah thats my car, mines gun grey, series 4 tho, with p1's. Mines fairly stock tho, and is up forsale (check forsale section )

Sorry, but thats a piss weak attitude. With the new double or nothing law there is NO 'E' plates any more. Therefore your only options are drive responsibly for 12 months, and get no record. Or, don't drive at all for 3 months, whinge about how **** it is not having a license and get a record.

Marc, did they do away with the ENTIRE 'E' plate scheme? That may be so for demerit points acumulating (3 month suspension) What about other charges such as wreckless etc (6 months), what I got done for. Are they doing the double-or-nothing thing for that also? Or can you still get 'E' license for them things??

Personally I'd just take the 3 month hit.
Do some mods to the car, buy a pushbike and a multirider.

I have insurance. No probs, just a little thing called "extra excess" mines not all too bad, 800 bucks or something and I don't think it will last forever.

If its such an "inconvenience" mate, then maybe you need to reassess the way you drive?
Do the crime, do the time.
3 months is nothing as stated above. It'll fly past.

I believe they have abolished the 'E'plate scheme altogether, same as the Eastern states.

So what happens to wreckless charges etc now? No E plate possibilities at all? Or can they still chose the double-or-nothing option?

Agreed. I had the same opinion when I got pulled over for drag racing. I was lucky enough to get off very lightly with only a fine.
I did something similar to the 1 point for a year (I accumulated 11 points on my licence, and wasn't losing any for a while). It makes you think about the way you drive, and makes you think twice before you do stupid sh*t.
Cruise control has saved me from many a speeding fines as well.

Hey man good luck with the reckless charge... make sure you dont let the dogs make false statements about what you did.... the ****s made up all sorts of **** about the circumstnces behind my last reckless charge and when I disputed it they told my lawyer they wouldnt include it in court... then the ****ers got up and spouted it off anyway. Also if you dnt get off and you need a E plate then if you can take your boss to your extrordinary hearing to stress to the judge that you need a licence for the good of his business and as a character witness.. makes a big difference.

cheerz mate. yeah they did make a whole bunch of bull**** up and they claimed i was going a speed i wasnt, they also changed the speed they told me to my face and then wrote a different speed in the statement...WTF?!?! they used a speed check didnt get me on radar or anything so yeah i stand a good chance. I got a good lawyer as well, also into performance cars so yeah he undertsands all the extra attention we get, he had a r34 gtr at one stage.

How is this a piss weak attitude? im looking at it realistically, odds are I'll probably get caught for something, being it 5km or 15km over. Last 2 fines i've had that pushed me over the top, where all 1 demerit point fines. Im just being honest. Im just saying that i'd rather loose the license for 3 months than sit on 1 point for a year.
and by the way, the E license is still availble, license department and the magistrate court have stated to me that they have no idea when the "double or nothing" rule will be in effect.
Im just ranting on about the bull**** u have to go thro to apply for an E license.

i got done by some D's, they asked how fast i thought i was going, they reckoned more, but i insisted i was 30km/h over. searched me, searcghed my car, didnt find any drugs etc, so they sed "we'll send sumthing in mail" - sent me a summons for dangerous driving and stated that i was "maintaining high speed and swerving lanes, failing to indicate and cutting people off" (which was totally untrue) - sadly being a P plater with a skyline (even if it IS a 31 :P) i didnt feel i had any other choice than to plead guilty and take the lightest penalty.
sucks that they can get away with this :(
