Alberts also have a neltronics product which is a plastic screen that covers your number plate. It is see through until you get to a certain angle (multinova angle) then it becomes shiney like a reflection from a plate cover. They are f**kn great... work perfectly and they are less than $100. I Dont place to much faith in the radars though, had two different Bel radars both worth over $700 and they just didnt give enough time to slow unless your were only 5-10km over and they went off at anything.

Hey mate hows that Bel you recomend for warning time??? The last one I bought new was the 745i (i think???) in about 1999. It just couldnt warn u until you were right on top of the radar... roughly how many meters would you say it would give you (Im thinking of getting another if I could find a reliable one)

I have an old bel vector and it gives bulk warning on multanovas even after i pulled it apart and rebuilt it haha

yeah, The one i bought cost like 900 bucks 5 years ago, There not a liscence to speed, if you use em for that kinda thing then your gonna get pinged, there a handy reminder if you do happen to be over the limit by a bit. Mine gives me kilometers warning for car mounted radars, and fixed is enough to wash off a heap of speed.

rx-65 was great when i had one, plenty of warning and only ever false'd around servo's.

Thats the thing, RD's don't give you free range to drive at any speed you choose, but they are a buffer. If your travelling up to 20k's over the limit you'd have a good chance of being saved. Detection varies on traffic conditions, i've only had it a week and have yet to come across any revenue raisers yet. It replaced my bel 990 Intl which was pretty good for its time, the RX65 being the next gen.

I can honestly say my RX65 has saved me at least tripple what it cost.

As said, you can't expect to be immune from speed cameras just because you buy one, they are a tool, and will help you avoid revenue raising fines.

Don't know how many times it's saved be from getting done for 5km/h over. Considering thats now a $100 fine, only needs to save you 4 times. I think it's done that in the last 2 months for me.

Bel RX65 for teh win.

Dad has the RX75 and it has saved him heaps. It is prob the better option if they are looking at banning them as it doesnt have a unit on the window but a sensor that goes at front and rear of car and like an incabin unit similar to a boost controller \ turbo timer.

You can also get jammers added to these

Most jammers don't work. Neltronics here in Perth did a test a few years ago and I remember the only one that worked also knocked out aircraft navigation!

sorry ... didnt mean to come off sounding like I thought radar was a ticket to speed. Just thought they could be abit hit and miss but obviously the two I had bought were early models cause even at 10km over they never gave even
close to a 'k' of warning that includes car mounted... on country roads (Im from up north and travel the 450kms home regularly)

Beltronics are the only way to go given that they are the ones who actually make all the multinovas and radars...

There are 3 different models to choose from:

Pro RX65 - excellent range on car mounted radars, very good range on multinovas, a little hit and miss on hand held laser... (note: this is due to the fact that hand held lasers are aimed at your number plate and this particular radar detector is mounted on your windscreen, if you were to aim a hand held laser directly at the RX65, it would go nuts!

XR STi - This is the latest model released by Bel... It is an undetectable model in the event these do become illegal (note: this is not likely to happen anytime soon as it has already been to court four times and been dismissed four times!) The software has been upgraded along with sensitivity which means range on car mounted radars and multinova is excellent. You will still have the same hit and miss problem with hand held laser...

Pro RX75 - This is the pick of the bunch... It comes with a seperate display module which can be hidden anywhere in the dash along with seperate sensors for multinova and laser which sit in the front grille of the vehicle (thus meaning they are close to your number plate giving you superb hand held laser performance!) Although you will spend more on this model, it will pay its self off in no time and can be relied on a little more than the other models!

Alberts Car Stereo in Myaree stock the full range. Drop in and see Dave for a great deal!

What i find with lasers, if it goes off your stuffed, as they pretty much give an instant reading... to the coppa, but hand helds are generally in fairly obvious spots, due to line of sight issues... be awar eof your suroundings :D
