Hi everyone,

There have been some changes made in the For Sale section of the forum.

There is no more bumping or replying of posts allowed in any of the Classified sections. This is because the moderators dont have 5 hours a day to go through and remove off-topic and rubbish posts in these sections. It will also prevent Spam posts in the Classifieds section.

If you want to talk to a seller, PM, email or phone them. If your a seller and you want to make some updates or changes, edit your original post.

New users on the forum will have to make a minimum of 5 relevant posts on other sections of the forum, before they can even use the classifieds. This will also help to alleviate spam in the Classified section, and prevent people joining just to use the classifieds.

New users will also have to go through a verification process when they join. This involves anyone registering an account, having to type a string of characters that is automatically generated by the forum, in an image. Basically, this confirms that a human is joining the forum, not a spam bot.

Users who abuse the Classifieds section in any way, whether it be spam, irrelevant posts, or using the forum purely as a trading post rather than as an automotive community, will receive a "yellow card", and have their classified section access removed for 7 days.
This includes posting for friends who are not able to post in the section.

These changes have been put into place, to benefit those who want to use the forum as an automotive community and resource, and to prevent those who want to abuse the forums, from doing so.

If anyone has any problems with this, please PM your nearest moderator.

If pain persists, please see your doctor, or click Log Out on the top right of the forum.

Yeah agreed on the template. Just makes it easier for people to actually see what the item is, rather than a sentance of crap.

also decent grammar and english would be good too

im pretty sure lots of people are sick of reading for sale posts with slang, and poor wording used

"yer im selling my car, cum by it, its got a turbo/cooler/zorst n mods n stuff"

This has been a long time coming. It benefits all to be honest.

And Ian, excellent suggestion on the template. Perhaps we need to sticky that in for sale.

Another small update.

All business section users and sponsors can reply to their own threads, but others still cant....this allows sponsors to bump their own threads to the top of their own sections, and perform price or product updates easily.

Ok we have changed it so people can reply to Wanted ads...makes it a bit easier for those chasing bits and pieces.

BUT, if any abuse or misuse arises, there will be some smackdown ;)

Yep, removing reply access to for sale threads keeps classifieds alot cleaner.

Only 5 posts before posting in classifieds, i think thats very leanient (i never could spell that)

I think contact details must include a phone number (rather than frustratedly PM'ing without reply becoz they never check the forum) and people that register should have to enter a valid e-mail address thats not a yahoo or hotmail one, this prevents people that are banned from re-applying indefinately.

Bumping has clearly been an issue. Along with several no hopers posting random comments about a persons sale item.

May i ask, in the Off-topic thread, where did the rest of the posted up video's go, i only get 1 page and then 1 more on the next, i thought there was more. Cheers

Makes it a bit difficult if your looking for parts - anyway here's 1 post only 4 to go.. I don't see how this cuts down on spam....

does the off topic section not count for posts or something?

It takes 1-2 hours for the forum to process the query once you've made 5 posts.

It actually does work, because spammers cant get into the classified sections, especially when they are programmed to do so.

Stop being such a bloody smart arse, really isnt a good start for a new forum member..

P.S. Posts in the off-topic section DONT contribute to post count, to stop people like you from making useless posts to get their post count up.
