nah this tosser cop sargent harvey reed is allways waitin for me just down the road from my house.
i dont even wait for him to put his lights on any more i just pull over as soon as i see him
he keeps carrying on about how i stuffed up a perfectly good car.
i had a voice recorder with me once and took him to cort but all it did was piss him off
as soon as they read out my previous offences the judge just gave me a look as if to say your up the creek regardless

I dont understand...

See, I think I almost get what you were going for...or, maybe you almost got what could have been done...I dont know

You've ended up with this fairly random mish-mash between retro styling cues (ie the scallop-style decals, bonnet gauges, etc, all classic 50s/60s hot rod stuff), and all-too modern stuff (eg the wheels, bonnet vent is more muscle-ca era, that wing, the cheesy GT-R badging).

I dont mind retro-tech when its done well - when the tech enhances yet doesnt overpower the retro (eg shaved doors, with keyless entry solenoids, or airbags, etc).

Without knocking you, here is what I would do if I was to go about customising a PT Cruiser - and believe me, I fully believe they have potential to look awesome.

First thing I would do, is chrome that grille, or invest in a custom billet-style one, eg -

http://www.revelenterprises.com/images/eg_hotrod.jpG

or

http://www.revelenterprises.com/images/ptgrille00.jpG

http://californiacruisers.com/GTflame.jpg

to match in with your existing black/silver colour scheme and give you a look along the lines of

http://www.fedrelandsvennen.no/amcar/grom/bilder/ptc5.jpg

Then, I would ditch those wheels, and go for something realy old-school - I'm thinking some HUGE 18" moon-discs or baby moons would actually look really hot...

baby moons -

http://www.the-rumbler.com/ratday2k3/46tudor.jpg

http://www.the-rumbler.com/b2tb/39ford.jpg

moon discs -

http://www.the-rumbler.com/perth2k2/ajwspecial.jpg

http://www.the-rumbler.com/ratday2k3/purple39.jpg

http://www.wheelmasterclassics.com/moon_wheels/page1.jpg

Keep the decals...as I said, they're akin to the old scallop paint jobs the hot rod guys used to go for.

http://www.the-rumbler.com/ratday2k3/am596.jpg

The bonnet gauges fit the theme, but you are likely to get reamed by the cops for them. I'd definitely lose that bonnet scoop though, and the wing if you havent already done so. Make it more smooth and streamlined, you want to ooze class and style, not overly aggressive muscle car performance. Maybe even shave the doors (ie no handles) and go full keyless entry...possibly throw some wheel spats on the rear wheels?? Kinda following the theme of the purple '39 ford posed above - totally shaved. The airbags you've got, and obviously the interior you've "pimped" out as well, which is all cool.

Hell, if I was going to go all out, I'd even consider getting some sort of customised lakes-pipes style exhaust setup, if its roadworthy.

http://www.the-rumbler.com/b2tb/hotmerc.jpg

I've always thought the boot-lids on the PTs are perfectly suited to some sort of retro-styled graphic, too, maybe some pinstriping, or a cheesegrater-style vent job...

http://www.the-rumbler.com/rickshaws2k3/mattsvicky.jpg

http://www.the-rumbler.com/ratday2k3/goldroadsterdash.jpg

http://www.the-rumbler.com/perth2k2/buickrear.jpg

http://www.the-rumbler.com/ratday2k3/goldroadster.jpg

And just think of the possibilities of a chopped roof!!!!

http://www.the-rumbler.com/ratday2k3/lowhudson2.jpg

http://www.the-rumbler.com/sydney2k3/zephyr.jpg

Then, I think the true retrotech potential of the PT Cruiser could have been utilised.

My 2c :)

Take your styling cues from the first and third PT Cruisers you just posted...

As pointed out though, we are in essence a performance car club, less about looks, although you can probably tell I have a massive soft-spot for the hot rods - throw a big single turbo 2JZ under the bonnet, with a RWD conversion, and then you'll have our attention :)

f*cks sake, give the c*nt a break, and a bit of encouragement. Since when did trying to be different be such a crime.

Good luck with your ambitions mate, I admire you for having the courage to show us what is quite clearly a passion of yours.

My advice - take portions of constructive critisism from this thread, use it wisely and ignore the haters

ok, I only just looked at this pic properly

http://antilag.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=3338&d=1158649190

In particular, I only just noticed the frenched tail-lights - thats awesome. Also gone the shaved look as well - the tail-lights are gone, and possibly suicide doors?? Very nice. Not entirely sure how legal it would all be over here, but thats some serious custom work.

My advice, read the banner at the top of the page, and then wonder why its gone down worse then a $20 hooker.

While im all for modifying to ones desires, there are better places then here to share it.
