see i have no idea what that means mayhem, i was told on skylines that the comp was only 9

i think even i was mistaken. na skyline has a 10.1 compression ratio , so your going to have to run either low boost , or have very good tuning jack

is that like when u turbo charge an N/A engine (i.e. honda, lancer) and u can only run very very low boost? ive seen this in most turbo conversion applications...

compression in a sr20de is 9.5:1

anybody clarify this

every 3psi of +ve pressure raises your static CR by one whole point.

so 4psi on an RB25DE would see your CR at about 11.3:1.

saying it can't be done is rubbish - lots of high CR / low boost application work really well for street / rally applications. look at the WRCars (okay, they have $100,000 engines but you get my drift...).

4psi would help improve swirl characteristics at such high CR, and you would notice more torque than power. certainly you could expect almost the same power output as a std RB25DET (185kW from memory...?) but the thermal loading would be higher on the DE engine, so tuning and a good water /air IC would be imperative.

i know you probably hear this all the time

but would it not be better to just sell the rb25 maybe to a silvia forum for 1500 and get a r33 set up for around 3k?

there is lots out there selling loom , ecu turbo all with it , stock parts always going for cheap

just a thought dont take this as a punt , but why waste time effort and more money when you can just drop a rb25 t ? tell me what you decide

Attempting this soon. using a DET block with a DE head. see how i go. oh add in a Garrett GT30R and you hopefully get the picture. :D

Sil with the det block you get the det compression of 9.0:1 so its all good

I have a rb25de in its getting a set of extractors and put into a ozzie r31 as a everydayer with ecconomy

ahh sweet! Thanks steve. With the extra lift of DE cams and few other "tweeks" it should be all good.

are u sure u can do that with a DE head? not positive on the nissan scene, but i know that the toyota turbo block heads have all sorts of goodies like oil squirters while the N/A heads don't. Once again, question has to be asked, if your going the hassle of bolting a DET bottom end onto a DE head then why not just go the whole DET??

also, change in compression can be done with a thicker head gasket, am i right?
