SR20DET into R32.
Now this R32 Currently has a RB25DE so that may make things a bit different. Parts wse is it like a rb swap into a silvia but opposite parts?
Positive and knowledgable advice welcome.
Im going to try do something different in my R32 4 door and i think the near 50/50 balance would be awesome.
Thanks very much
JAck
p.s. i hear mayhem has a front cut like this, advice mate?
Jack, instead of trying to tell you what i think i know etc, just wait for meggala to see this thread , he has done the exact conversion, so he knows how it was done.
From what he told me it worked out really well.

I hate the idea, but its been done many times :(
You're already on the right track you've got a decent head... all you need is a RB30 block and a few bits... screw 50:50 balance :D

the conversion is fairly simple you need the sr engine crossmember and mounts also the sr gear box crossmember and mounts if the car is auto you might need different ones as auto's have different floor pan's (talk bout gear box xmembers
wiring is easy for the people that know how if its manual the stock tail shaft should be fine no mods needed in both my r32 and cefiro. you cant use the oil presure gauge cause the sr has a switch radiator top out lets are on different side. power steering casue's a few issues you will probably need a lock for hicas if you have it and run sr 20 power steering reservoir get Pirteck or similar to sort you lines. I havent had air on either car so this is unknown to me. if you find out share the knowledge.
I used a gtr cooler in both conversions
stock cooler would be ok with stock turbo
now let get to performance I would say ou would be better off with a modded sr 20 rather than a stock one cause the r32 is heavier than the s13 torque is better in sr in my r32 coupe the handeling was twichy in the cefiro it is much better the 4 door might have long wheel base if so this will help. I love my sr cefiro better than the r32. but my sr cefiro makes 221 rwkw and the r32 one made 140 rwkw (wonder why) .
my question to you is with the r32 rb 25 you have a great base for a tough motor 9.5 to 1 compression I would bolt on a turbo and you will have a better and faster ride . when the motor dies (which it shouldnt) rebuild it with rb26 bits.
the rb 26 head bolts straight on to the n/a rb 25 (from r32) motor (i think).
also in perth you ahve a few peopel who can remapp the stock ecu so tuning shouldnt be a problem you could start with an rb 20 base map.
my thoughts any way

Im mainly doing it becuase the rb25 i have is kinda feeling a bit tired. and i really want that balance. the SR will be mod'd. is there much of a weight difference noticable between the RB in the front and the SR in the front? is the 50/50 noticable?
i would hit up some perth workshops and i would get my mate fabs(extreme autosport) to do the conversion for me(he does great work)
but....
im in New Zealand, i moved here last week.
Thanks again for that. i needed to know so workshops wouldnt fuck me around and mislead me.
also this way i can do the prep and hunt around for the needed parts.
maybe it feels tired only because it is so slow..
2.5l of boosted 9.1 comp torque would rock
[insane]

2.5Lt 9.1comp ratio ping of love
an rb25de would feel tired because they are no powerhouse, unless its got really high kms and you know its tired

would it ping easy? thats what gav told me the other night in bed, i mean mirc......
(im in NZ)

nah would ping with the right tuning rb25det's are 9 to 1 any way.
handeling is a bit twichy in the r32 better in the cefiro but youcan get used to it. you so notice the weight difference .
but it wont be as responsive as a s13 remeber that

DAMN, look at how much space there is in front of the engine with an SR in there. :)
