i had a car & someone had ripped out the charcol canister & left the lines open...

car stank of fuel inside till i put a canister back on

doubtfull this would be the case on a 98 rex tho...

If its had an aftermarket fuel pump put in its could be that they havent chnaged the o ring around the sender unit and its now leaking either fuel or just fumes.

What Scradly said.

The seal around the sender could be buggered, or the bolts that hold the sender into the tank may not be tightened properly. Make sure your gentle when tightening those bolts, the studs can snap very easily!!

Also, check the clamps going onto the fuel filter and rails...if they are loose, fuel can leak out, and even a few drops will be smelled through the air vents!

Have a look at the O-rings on the injectors, its un-likely if they are stocko's but happened when i put in GTR injectors, turn the air-con on to get high on fumes... hahaha

when changing my fuel pump i stripped a couple of those lil bolts
it's still on tight and i don't get fuel fumes, but it's something i'd still like to fix up
how would i fix it, assuming i've stripped where they bolt in rather than the bolts themselves
