Thought i would post some pics of my car as someone asked me too.

Its a 1973 HQ with a few minor mods, all work was done by my old mand and i helped out as much as possible.

Very neat!

The VL dash would of been a mission to fit and wire up.

Whats it go like?

Hey cheers for comments :P

Booga, i will get rid of the 20 when i get some more money but uni makes it hard. But its surprising how good the 20 goes hey... its not that gutless down low and it revs real real hard. It goes very well in the HQ, very surprising... i was dragging some SS commodore (before i had tune, 3inch exhaust and SAFC) and at 100km i was pulling away from him, not easily but was definitely pulling. Id say at the moment it would prob do like a high 13 (its got 3 inch from dump, SAFC II, FMIC, bigger turbo and tune) But the hi-stall and torque converter will fix all the low end problems soon =D

The dash was not that hard to install, it needed some lengthening on each side by bout 50mm but was easier than expected. The old man didnt take to long with the wiring either (it runs a full VL harness) but when we put the 20 in, the wiring of the motor and ECU to the VL harness and some of the old HQ bits was an absolute b!tch lol. And then we had to do the wriring of the R33 auto, which without pin outs or a wiring diagram was an insanely difficult task... that was the hardest part of the conversion and took most of the time. we were expecting a two week conversion, the wiring alone took 5 weeks.... but considering it was all done by my old man (a plumber) and my uncle (physicist) i guess thats why it took a little longer.

I had some major turbo problems as well. it was making a loud noise which we were told was a torque convetrer isssue, so we changed the gearbox but it was still there. so i changed the turbo to the standard one, and was still there, so i bought another turbo (after someoen then told me it was the turbos making the noise) and finally 3 tubros later it worked lol.

So in the end we have the rb20 engine harness, the R33 auto, VL harness and some HQ left overs (lights etc.) which made for a lot of fun. But end result is awesome... old school beauty and Jap technology

Thats a very good choice of engine.... Dont forget that red supra runnin 1uz twin turbo made over 600hp at the wheels and the gearbox blew up at the plex.

its something about cubes and turbos that really get me amped.

cactus
01-08-2006, 03:42 PM
he is running standard internals and GT28R's with the R154 box.... only aiming for 400 at the wheels (10psi is max boost he is allowed to run we've been told) but knowing him he will go out and buy forgies etc. later on.

I'm so offended, 1UZ + turbos = toyo power.

Seen the HQ out on a TPC cruise, had to look twice when I saw the cooler, very nice.

Supra with a 1UZ twin turbo? Who has that?

I dunno his name but he did all of his work with Ray Ferrari in High Wycombe, i juss spoke to him 1 nite at the plex and he does run forged internals, car was crazy on the track and his last run he blew the gearbox. Its red color and last time i saw it had a yellow sticker which was few months ago so i dunno if its still on the road if someone knows Ray he'll probably know if the cars still alive.

yumafia
02-08-2006, 09:13 AM
When i was gettin some parts of Ray i spoke to him bout the Supra, according to him it cant even be boosted to max coz gearbox cant hold it, but i later heard it has a high chance of making 800rwhp i dunno if its a rumor or a fact but sure does have some serious power now.

redline07
02-08-2006, 09:17 AM
Well then that's Wayne's supra, it a 1UZ with a single T88-34D, and it blew the clutch up last time. And yes i do know Ray...he's my uncle..

yumafia
02-08-2006, 10:32 AM
So how much is that supra makin with the 1UZ

redline07
02-08-2006, 10:53 AM
nothing at the moment...

Miami
02-08-2006, 11:35 AM
Wayne's waiting for a HKS carbon/carbon triple plate clutch to come over to see if he can finally have something that can handle the torque, from speaking to him at the AHG day a few weeks back.

Yumafia - think it might have actually been the diff he blew, cos he bought my LSD off me about 2 months ago (well, swapped, cos I had the tall ratio)

yumafia
02-08-2006, 12:06 PM
Not sure ay people where sayin that it was the box so i dunno, i guess Wayne is the only one who knows what went.. But if i remember rite it was in 3rd that it went fuked, whatever it was that blew, was from a big Hp and that car had plenty off.

Miami
02-08-2006, 02:52 PM
I'm not saying it wasnt the box, may well have been, cos I know he also replaced that pretty recently (getrag 6spd i think - jarrod??) but yeah, he trashed his old lsd as well. I'm sure he'll have it out and about when he gets his clutch sorted out.

As for the sequential TT 1UZ that was mentioned elsewhere in this thread, was that the one up for sale in the quokka recently?? Harlequin paint, etc...

EDIT: nope, thats single turbo as well...
"SUPRA fitted with Lexus 4L V8, T76 turbo, front mount intercooler, Lexus auto, shift kit hi stall, Valveside body kit, Harlequin paint, too much to list, very fast $45,000. Dnella. 9375-2552 or 0403-251-865"

redline07

Yeah shane that supra for sale with the veilside kit is the one that got done first.
