Antilag.com - As seen on Channel 7...
Posted By Brockas Fri 30 Jul 2010
If you've listened to the radio, or watched Channel 7 news lately, you're probably of the opinion that Antilag is a "hoon" club whose members "openly flout the law" (Officer Ian Clarke, 07/10). If you've listened to any legitimate members, you're probably already aware that Antilag had nothing to do with last Fridays (27-7-10) events (3 cars on a cruise not affiliated with us AT ALL were confiscated).
Ironically, we held a legal driver training event on Saturday. I am very curious as to why that wasn't reported, but I think we all know the reason for that. Who wants a nice factual story about people doing some good in the community, when you can sensationalise a video ripped from YouTube? One requires actual journalism, and getting out to an event with a camera and crew. The other requires nothing but the internet, and a muffin / coffee combo from McCafe.

The Antilag forum has over 7,000 active users in WA alone. For us to verify the whereabouts of 7,000 internet users is impossible. The Antilag team including myself do what we can to promote lawful behaviour at our events, and have even co-operated with the police in the past to report dangerous driving.

For Ian Clarke (the Traffic Enforcement Group spokesperson) to come out and publically say we are an underground car club, whose members openly flout the law, is a huge slap in the face; especially considering we have a public domain, open membership forum, and are a registered company.

We know there are police on this forum. We have no issue with this as we have nothing to hide. I'm not sure how much more public we could be.

The current policy in WA seems to be based on punishing someone after a road offence has been committed. We're being proactive, trying to prevent the offence from occurring in the first place. This is why we organise so many driver training days, and fun motorsport days, to allow people to enjoy their cars in a legal manner.

To be honest, we believe this is simply frustration from the TEG over the fact that their sting operations regularly fail and as such, they need to find a scapegoat. In this case, it has been Antilag.

Officer Fyfe earlier admitted that they trawl the forums for information. At the same time, the Police Commissioner is constantly harping on about not having manpower. Here's a suggestion, get police out from behind the computer, and put them on the street where they can actually do some good.

Police can track down and arrest someone who is seen doing a burnout on YouTube within 24 hours, yet they're incapable of finding the person who attacked me on CCTV 6 months ago.

Maybe they should take a second look at their priorities, and reconsider who they're targeting; especially when one of their own is caught doing 170km/h on public roads.

There's an old saying - "don't let the bastards get you down". To everyone on Antilag, and in the WA car community, I implore you to adopt this philosophy.

What about the video shown?
Well if you actually watch the entire video, it's filled with footage from LEGAL events, including drag passes at the Motorplex, and the main footage that was displayed was actually from a skid-pan day we organised on a members private property, which was all completely legal.
Unfortunately when certain segments are extracted, it can be made to look bad. For example, the burnout they showed in what David Cooper described as a busy carpark was actually at Motorvation, on private property well after public access had been shut off to the facility.

The only footage showing racing on the street wasn't in our video, it was simply added into the middle of the compilation for the news segment. As such, this video didn't have our watermark, but only the eagle-eyed among us will pick that up.

Am I surprised by all of this? Not at all.

Steve makes it 2 in a row at Targa West!
Posted By Brockas Wed 26 Aug 2009
Steve Jones (evo_steveo) and co-driver Rauri Soutar-Dawson have won Targa West again in another R35 GT-R. Leading most of the weekend, Steve finished 59 seconds in front of fellow R35 driver Tony Quinn. Quinn was subsequently disqualified for an "exhaust irregularity".
The teams of Dean Herridge/Chris Murphy in an 08 WRX STI and Alistair McRae/Bill Hayes in an Evo 10 joined Jones and Soutar-Dawson on the podium, in second and third place respectively. The weekend was dominated by bad weather, with the only partly fine day coming on Sunday.
Steve recovered from an accident while competing in Targa Tasmania which left him with 2 broken vertebrae and his R35 GT-R damaged. Instead of repairing the damaged R35, it was used as a spare parts car, and a new R35 sourced through Fabcar.

Pictures from each day can be found in the links below:

Just a few photos from Day 2 of Perth's first ever Powercruise.
The event can only be described as a success. With over 700 entrants and a 10,000+ strong crowd on Saturday it's one of the biggest event debuts the Perth motoring scene has ever seen.

Steve wins Targa West!
Posted By Brockas Mon 8 Sep 2008
Steve Jones (evo_steveo) has become the youngest driver to win Targa West. Equipped with a Fabcar Nissan R35 GT-R, Steve finished an overall 15 seconds ahead of former V8 Supercar driver Jim Richards in his Porsche GT2, and 21 seconds in front of Kevin Weeks in a Lamborghini Superleggera.

Steve is also the first person in the world to win an event with a production model R35 GT-R.

In what was a fitting finish to fathers day, Steve dedicated the win to his father, Warren Jones;

“Thank my dad for everything he did for me, my old man is the reason I wanted this for so long. He passed away when I was 17 and I’ve done this for him, I’ve given him what he wanted!”

New Leaderboards!!
Posted By Brockas Tue 15 Apr 2008
Check out our new leaderboards. Split into 3 categories, drag, power, and circuit, check your times or power against other antilag.com members.

All info has been taken from the respective threads covering the fastest track/circuit times, and the highest power figures. Before you cry foul that you're not up there, check that you've posted in the thread within the last year, and if not, then post up already!

The drag section is split into 5 sub-categories, top 50 overall fastest, top 20 8/6/4 cylinders, and of course, the fastest rotaries.

More subsections will be added shortly to both the power and circuit sections.

Antilag.com wins 3rd best club of Motorvation '08!
Posted By Brockas Sun 20 Jan 2008

There's no other way to put this, antilag.com rocked Motorvation '08! Saturday brought a day of burnouts and some excellent performances in the driving competitions by antilag.com members. Come 6pm though and it was time to park up, while some just felt like having a few drinks, others were forced to park by security *cough cough*. As the sun went down, the place came alive. The Supra club were kind enough to let us use their equipment to make the party to end all parties. Danilo working his magic on the decks ensured the "dancefloor" was never empty, except of course when massive burnouts were being ripped straight through the crowd.

Sunday brought with it the mother of all hangovers, and a slightly more subdued group. Still, there was no shortage good times and burnouts.

Congratulations to Perth-WRX who won outright champions, and All Fours who came 2nd.
Hampered by no more than 8 breakages throughout the weekend (possibly from excessive burnouts?), antilag.com won 3rd Champion Club of 2008.

Massive thanks have to be extended to Joe (BALISTC), RRob, Camo, and B0BB0 for organising what was a brilliant weekend at the antilag.com stand. Nothing would have been done without these guys.

Expect to see more pictures shortly, right now though, most of us just want to sleep.
